Local Body Photo Gallery Project
The local body gallery uses pictures stored on the Flickr web photo sharing service. If you would like to
contribute photos, here's how to do it:
- Create a Flickr account for yourself. If you already have an account, you can use that
one.
- Join the OTO USGL local
bodies group on Flickr. Write to the webmaster (webmaster@oto-usa.org), identifying yourself by
name, local body affiliation, and Flickr account name; you should be invited to join the
group within a few days.
- Upload photographs that show off what's going on at your local body. See the
guidelines below for what can and can't be included in the gallery. Make sure that you mark
each photograph as 'public' -- otherwise it can't be used in the gallery.
- To mark what local body is shown in the photo, add a tag of the form "bodyidXXX"
to the photo, where XXX is the ID assigned to your local body on this page. For example, photographs taken at LVX Oasis would be
tagged "bodyid230".
- Use Flickr's "Send to group" tool (on the photo details page) to send the photo
to the "OTO USGL local bodies" group.
And that's it! Your photo will now be displayed in the gallery. Right now, the gallery
page displays all the pictures available in our Flickr group; when there are enough of them
there, we'll instead pick a random set from those available. Also, while the body ID is
not currently used for anything, please do include it; we will soon be adding a link on the
various local body lists (including the map) which will display pictures from a specific
local body. In the future we'll probably make many other creative uses of this data.
- Follow all of Flickr's terms of use, including uploading only photos for which
you have the copyright or explicit permission.
- If individuals are recognizable in your photo, all such individuals must have a
signed, dated, and witnessed model release form on
file with the local body. One form covers all photos including a given individual; you
needn't collect a separate form for each photo, including those taken on different
occasions. This form must be available to USGL on request.
- Photos showing illegal activities or which would reasonably be considered indecent
or offensive are not suitable for the gallery.
- These photos will be visible to the general public, so degree-sensitive material
is not allowed.
The USGL webmaster will terminate the group membership of those who violate these
policies repeatedly or willfully.
If a photograph violates the above guidelines—for example, if it is offensive or
portrays individuals who do not have model releases on file—it should be reported
to the USGL Webmaster (webmaster@oto-usa.org). Please click on the
problem image to reach its Flickr page, copy the resulting URL from the browser's
location bar, and include it in your email. Also explain the problem in sufficient
detail for USGL to evaluate your complaint. Images will generally be removed
temporarily while a complaint is being investigated, but may later be restored if the
complaint is found to be groundless.
